PERSONAL HYGIENE
Parents are asked to discuss respiratory etiquette with children at home before practice. This should include, but is not limited to:
- Wash or sanitize hands frequently, Signage for proper hand washing is posted in the washroom.
- Parents of young children should assist to ensure proper hand hygiene.
- Cough and sneezing into elbow.
- Keep their nose clean with a tissue and wash and sanitize hands after.
- If you are feeling unwell, stay home!
- Warts on hands or feet must be covered with band aids.
Clothing
- Leotard and bodysuit with fitted shorts or leggings is preferred; however, fitted performance wear such as; tank top, capris, leggings are fine!
- Ensure clothing is comfortable and fitted. Clothing should not ride up over the stomach, (it is distracting for children and they will not be focused on the task they are working on).
- No zipper, buttons, or belts.
- No jewelry, particularly large earrings (stud earrings are fine).
- Bare feet or grip socks ONLY – no shoes or regular socks!
- Long hair must be tied back in a braid - NO buns, pony tails, bobby pins or headband, etc.
Before Class
- Everyone should wash or sanitize their hands upon entering and exiting the building and gymnasium.
- Ensure your child has a non-spill water bottle, as we take numerous water breaks during class.
- Children should be dressed and ready for class prior to entering. Changing in the washroom is not permitted, for time purposes!
- Footwear MUST be removed prior to entering the gym (prevent slip hazard in the gym). Coats and personal belonging are to remain with parents or a designated area.
- Children are to wait until they are called to the equipment area. Under no circumstances are children permitted on the equipment without a coach present.
During Class
- Photos and Videos are STRICTLY prohibited! Privacy rights of children participating are very important.
- Supervision: A parent or guardian must be present during class! If you need to leave the premises, please ensure you have someone designated to take care of your child should they need to leave the gym for any reason (bathroom break, illness, upset, etc.).
- Viewing: For those viewing the class, please be mindful of conversations and the level of noise, so as not to disrupt the class and to respect others viewing
After Class
- Ensure gymnasts leave the equipment area promply, coaches need to prepare for the next session. The coach is only responsible for children while participating in the class.
- All discussions with the coach must be done outside gym hours, with the exception of safety concerns. Email shelleycollier2235@gmail.com or via Facebook messenger
- Parents and guardians are responsible to ensure gymnasts are waiting appropriately before and after class (no running, sitting or standing on tables or loud conversation).
Gym Rules
- First Rule is to have FUN!
- No running in the gym (walking feet only).
- Wait your turn - only one gymnast on a mat at one time.
- Safety landings (Motorcycle), only. (Injury prevention starts with controlled landings)
- Maintain distance between gymnasts (Airplane wings).
- Skills are to be done on designated mats ONLY. No random Cartwheeling!
- No gum or candy - this is a potential choking hazard!
- Listen to your coach! Please, no talking when the coach is speaking.
